Alberto Lacort is a PhD student in Industrial Engineering in a cotutelle between Polytechnique Montréal and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), supervised by Nadia Lahrichi. He belongs to the ROGLE group of the Departamento de Organización de Empresas and has worked at the UPV as a senior research technician since November 2023, with an ACIF predoctoral contract from the Conselleria de Educación, Universidades y Empleo for the project "Planning and scheduling of hospital operations".

He researches hospital bed management and patient flow simulation. His lines of work are strategies to admit, discharge and reconfigure beds, discrete event simulation of inpatient units and the validation of the models, and capacity management of surgical blocks, with digital twins of a sterilisation unit. In 2023 he was a visiting predoctoral fellow at the Politecnico di Milano, with Andrea Matta, on the automatic generation of digital twins.

He holds a bachelor's degree (2018, with a double degree from the École Centrale de Lyon) and a master's degree (2020) in Industrial Engineering from the UPV. He received the Research Excellence Award (Emerging Researcher) at the 4th Predoctoral Symposium of the Department of Business Organisation, UPV (2025), and the Best Paper award in the Logistics and Operations track at the 3rd Symposium (2024). He takes part in organising conferences and symposia and reviews manuscripts for WPOM.
